Hey Bomer,
Yeah I wouldnt be counting Ghost if I were you, he has made it clear that he no longer wants to be a part of the clan. I think if the clan got back up and running then he might be a member, but as long as the clan is as inactive as it is (which is mainly because we all have jobs and gaming is no longer our main focus) then we can pretty much not count him. If I am incorrect here Ghost please correct me.

Yeah, Well the most
Yeah,
Well the most important thing imho is to have an active leader, which we unfortunatley does not have right now, nor had for the last 2-3 years (like James Hetfield sang, SAD BUT TRUE!). It's obvious that Elixir/Epagien doesn't have the time for VeX anymore, and that's actually no fault in that. It's called LIFE. However, for people like myself, gaming is and has always been a part of my life.
Therefore I'm willing to sacrifice time (and possibly money) to keep VeX alive, but for that I want to be in charge and decide how the future VeX Clan should be drawn up. I no longer believe in dividing the clan members in different ranks. That's only complicated, at least in the beginning. This is just a part of my "plans", I will explain more later when all this holiday crap is over.
I'm a bit stressed right now so this message may be a little confusing, but when the time is right I'll explaing more in detail.
Long story short : I'm willing to be the new leader of VeX Clan.
Over and out.

I wrote that post 1 week and 3 days ago, and still not a reply. Why ?
No time ?..
Or is it simply so that no one cares anymore... ?

I read it and cared, but I
I read it and cared, but I guess I just didnt really know what to say to it and mostly just wauiting for you to explain more about it I guess.

What would you do as
What would you do as leader?
I'm still waiting for someone to take action on the items I put on the front page.

If I was a leader, I would
If I was a leader, I would look on the currents facts of VeX's status and then start small.
These facts are :
1. A very limited member base.
2. With this comes almost no and/or low activity.
3. A website that doesn't meet our target audience. We are looking for young people who like playing online computer games. Gamers. Drupal is a good idea and has a goodlooking appearance, but that won't attract hardcore gamers. Maybe older people looking for a collecting-stamps-club, but not young gamers. Lets face it, dedicated gamers is a kind of perishable today. If we don't attract new people to our clan, they will join another clan, and hence, we'll get no members. Its easy as pie.
4.Too much influence from the past. We dont need old forums from the Outwars-, RtCW-, Age of Empires-days and whatnot. Those days are over, no matter how hard you try to reincarnate them. That could scare of newer members.
To-do's :
4. As I said in point #3 , we need an attractive site, and a forum, or else people won't join us. These are the unspoken requirements for online gaming today, we must walk the walk, not just talk the talk. We need to profile us!
5. To this, we need a logo and a slogan which we must hang on to. The "Been VeXed lately?" slogan is a classic and it works. The problem which remains is a logo. Its basically not a hard task to do, the problem is to design so it fits into our profile, being a gaming clan with a kick-ass attitude.
6. We need a solid member base. Who's in and who's not ? We don't need people that show up every 3 weeks, I'm talking about Epagien, Helix, Kresh and others. Those of you that feel hit, make a descision. Are you in or not ? This isn't necessarily a negative action. Sure all the "old-timers" have skills, but if they don't show up, then what is the fucking point having them as members ? No disrespect tho, you guys have made a awesome work keeping this clan going, but its time to move on into 2007.
I have more ideas, but I cant clear my head anymore right now.
And, referring to point #4, I could probably get my friend to code us a site along with graphics (for a payment, no worries tho, I'll pay it myself, it usually works with a box of beers)
/D
"Get a friend to code us a
"Get a friend to code us a site..." Comments like that make me want to throw in the towel. But you should know by now that's not in my nature. As I've said over the years, VeX will live on with or without you.
Between you and "Hardcore Gilliam" I am totally confused. WHY would you hang around, if the Clan is so bad-off? Is your life so meaningless? LMAO!
There's nothing new in what you said, unfortunately. We've been around and around this bush. The do-lists are only good if you have someone who is interested in actually doing something on them. Kresh, Epa and I obviously are frying bigger fish now. We built the structure and rules that create VeX, I built the site and we leaders gave you (all, collectively) instructions on what to do to keep it alive.
But you're stuck on making a new site and more to-do lists. It's very close to the definition of insanity, too close for comfort.
Log off, then read the front page. "it's that simple" This is why I don't have time to waste on this; I can't keep doing the same thing over and over.
I think the result of this thread is clear: VeX does not need new leadership. If you want to do that, go make your own clan. VeX needs followers that are loyal and willing to work.
This weekend is a fitting time for this post; Martin Luther King Jr. was all about service. I've quoted him before in my posts, but I don't think any of you really "grok" what good followership and service is about.
The instructions are before you, I am always available. The position of leadership is not available in this Clan, but positions of high honor and service are.
You make the choice.

PS: Someday, I will finish my higher education and expand my company to the point where I am not always chained to my desk. When that day comes, you will remember VeX, as you see it once again rise from the ashes. You will be shamed if you diss VeX now. You will be a target if you go against VeX ever. Mark my words; I don't build stuff that sux.
PPS: Tell your 'friend' to get ready for the "Code Throwdown with Elixir" if he wants to try his stuff. I bet I get a lot of NOTHING... lmao. Bets are on?

I was making a proposal, but I guess that proposal hit your balls. Yeah, sure, VeX will live, but in what state ? Connected to a respirator like the past 2-3 years ?

Between you and "Hardcore Gilliam" I am totally confused. WHY would you hang around, if the Clan is so bad-off? Is your life so meaningless? LMAO!

Yeah, congratz, you understand my problem. My life IS meaningless without VeX. My day isn't complete until I log on to see yet a day without posts on the VeX forum.

I'm interested in doing the do-list I posted, and I assume Im the only one. Otherwise I wouldn't have posted it.
"We built the structure and rules that create VeX". Wow, thanks. Thats really nice of you ol' chaps to do. However, in the quiet words of Virgin Mary, come again ? What structure ? What rules ? I can't see 'em anywhere on this so called site. I can't even see a decent memberlist. I guess I'll keep searching for 'em on this forum while you guys keep "frying the bigger fish".
"Instructions on what to do to keep it alive". That are some big words. Let me see what those instructions are...recruiting members, making a logo. Uh-huh. These are some detailed instructions indeed. And then what ? Who's going to update the site, approve new members ? You, Kresh or Epagien every 4th week ?
The problem is that you assign tasks to members that consists of emailing TONS of people that obviously doesn't want to be in VeX anymore. I did that a couple of years ago and it turned out to be a fiasco, because no one replied. Where is the meaning in that ?

But you're stuck on making a new site and more to-do lists. It's very close to the definition of insanity, too close for comfort.

Yes I am. Like I said, how can we attract new members with this blog as our only display window ? We need some sort of revolution, if you cant see that you're almost as close to insanity like I am.

Log off, then read the front page. "it's that simple" This is why I don't have time to waste on this; I can't keep doing the same thing over and over.

No time to waste on this ? A member questions your way of handling things, but you don't want to waste time on it ? Thats almost clsoer to a dictatorship than a "military democracy".

I think the result of this thread is clear: VeX does not need new leadership. If you want to do that, go make your own clan. VeX needs followers that are loyal and willing to work.

No, there's no fucking way that the result of this thread is "clear".
"VeX needs followers that are loyal and willing to work." Am I doing this just to fuck with VeX ? No Im not. Im doing this because I believe in VeX, and I am willing to work! Why else would I start posting ? All I want is a fucking change, is that so bad ?

This weekend is a fitting time for this post; Martin Luther King Jr. was all about service. I've quoted him before in my posts, but I don't think any of you really "grok" what good followership and service is about.

Unlike others, Martin Luther King Jr would take his time to listen to his followers and trying to make things better. He wouldn't see the complains as a "waste of time".

Haha, and you're implying that I dont have a life.

What does this has got to do with anything ? Just want to feel your e-penis growing ? Jesus.
Don't get me wrong, I came
Don't get me wrong, I came back to see if you posted, and boy oh boy... the length of that post really does lend strength to my theory. LOL! Yes, I'm man enough to admit your "code a real site" comment hit me below the belt. But by doing so, you admit you swung below the belt. This site is more than enough for you to do your work. ANOTHER redesign is a waste of time.
The lists are pointless unless you take steps to work on them. It's really quite simple. You took probably an hour to post that note. In that time you COULD HAVE MADE A LOGO DRAFT. Get my point? You are putting your effort in the wrong area. During the time I spend last night I installed the skin you mentioned it and tested it.
We need a logo because you said we did. Actually, I am rethinking that. Since no one can come up with a better design (myself included), I think we should stick with our very first original logo. (This paragraph is my example of a progressive movement.)
But really, there are so many things that it becomes unfocused. I will do my best to comment as you write along.
The next thing is about emailing old members. You MAY be right about it being a waste of time, but you won't know until you try. I believe you and I are disconnecting on this point like so: You think it's a bad idea to email old members. I contend that it is not your place to judge whether it is a good or bad idea at all, but rather to "just do it". That is my point of view. We can discuss if you think it was a good or bad idea AFTER the results are in, otherwise it's just a bunch of hot air and waste of all our time. I am completely open to discussion, but at the right time and with the right information.
Your point about military democracy and dictatorship is a valid one, but you forget that when there are too many people who try to lead and not enough followers, there is no action. VeX shows no action because everyone is busy making lists and not taking action. As I said, I can't "waste time" by validating more lists without taking action first. Any good democratic leader would agree with that.
You also must agree there has been FAR TOO MUCH QUESTIONING AUTHORITY AROUND HERE. My work is honest and forthcoming. I do what you ask (installed your skin and tested it) and I have VeX's best interest at heart. I respond and I have done what I can to keep VeX alive. There is nothing wrong with my leadership, and if you believe there is, please allow me to show you the door. I will forever value the experience you gave to VeX and me and will not look back when you are gone.
Likewise, I will cherish every fuckin moment I have to talk back to you and work with you as well. I JUST CAN'T STAND REPEATING MYSELF.
You say that this blog/forum is not adequate for posting and conversation. I did not know that is a problem, but there is something you did not know: Drupal is able to host/install different types of boards including other popular stand-alone systems. So instead of claiming that all our hard work needs a redesign or recode, then please SHOW ME LINK of message board styles you DO LIKE. That is another DOABLE ACTION that you may choose to do.
You admit that you complain. Yes you did. Read it carefully. LOL!
But let's agree to work together, please. That is my resolve. I have two people who want to work: Diablo and Bomber. I will post a new thread to start working, but you have to agree to do the work without complaining or questioning (both of which you admit to doing in the past).
