Hey I was just wondering if any of the people who used to play outwars will be returning.I havent seen any of them and am on quite a bit.If they do come back are they going to get the same ranks as they had or are they going to have to work there way up again?I know when i was in DAS we had problems with our leader giving new people or people rejoining high ranks because they used to be good.He did this even though the peoples skill was bad when they returned.Do you plan on doiong this?

For those who are rejoining will most likely get fitted a rank that fits there skill when they come back. It wouldn't be far to those who have trained and worked hard for there rank that stayed have to deal with people higher than them then plain out suck. SO for those that do plan to come back will be given a temp rank as a private then I beleive that they should face a couple of people to sort of find out where they are around skill level until they think they are good enough then we will give them a rank not quit the one they had but one that is respectable for there skill level.

Examples

Let me make two examples. First is Sidewinded. He retured to VeX OW after a long vacation. I had no record of his past rank and he wasn't listed on ex-VeX. So I determined by talking with him that he should be ranked as Corporal until we have time to test and or promote him. He was added to the members page as a Corporal today. The important part was that I talked to him and let him know what was going on.

My second example is ... me. As Lieutenant General of Outwars, I pretty much kicked ass. There were always a few VeX who could beat me, as was natural. When I "retired" from OW and moved to RtCW, I still kept my name up as Outwars Section Leader. Now the time has come for me to step down, mainly due to skill level. I'm taking off one of my hard-earned stars and calling myself Major General.

What this does, for the first time in VeX, is invert the rank structure. For the first time, Colonel Whosnext would "technically" outrank me in OW. Based on skill level, that's certainly true.

To continue on, this subject is good to talk about, but will soon be moot. There are very few VeX, (perhaps even none) that fall into the category of "coming back to OW". Either they are already in, or they are being recruited.

If they are being recruited, then you need to hop over to the Chit-Chat forum where we are discussing the "V'er Program."

New Ideas

Just to revisit this older thread, I think I came up with a plan that might help the Ranking problem of being over-ranked for your skill level.

If we made a "Review Program" in which VeX members would be "tested" every so often (like three or six months, or even a year). If they fail the test, they would move down one rank, (just as they moved up only one rank when getting promoted).

This is a modification of some of the ranking information in the FAQ, which is currently offline. (Yes, I'm working on it.) Comments?
