Video Card

Ok, what should I buy for a video card? In your reply, tell me why and how much and where you saw it.

To start this discussion, I have one. I have heard good things about the ATI Radeon series. I found what I think to be a good deal on a new (not refurb) ATI Radeon 9200ViVo Excalibur w/128MB, 128bit, TV-Out, and DVI. It's selling for $89 at Eagle Computer (saveateagle.com).

Comments please?

Note to self: Look at epinions and newegg.com

NVIDIA

If you plan on using tv-out, multi monitor, or are concerned about monitor efficiency, go with nvidia. ATI has trouble with that. Nview correct all the problems ati doesnt address.

As far as bang for your buck, still with nvidia.
For price and efficiency get a golden sample fx 9800 xt(acts like a 5950 xt, factory overclocked, added fans, guaranteed)

Or get a 6800 GT if you want the best vid card for a sane price.

What to Buy

Kresh, thanks for your input. The 9800 and the other you mentioned were are little more than I wanted to spend. I ended up taking your advice on the ATI vs. Nvidia thing tho.

I chose Nvidia. This FX5900XT chipset was mounted with 128MB and made by ChainTech. Sold at newegg for $175, shipped. 40 vote, and 5-star reviews only. Hope I'm happy.
